October 2023

Dear Friends,

During these terrible days, all of us at ICEI share in the national and personal losses our community is enduring.

So many of us are in pain or grieving or extremely anxious. This is a particularly difficult, sad, and painful time, the like of which we have never experienced before, with more tragic news almost every day, alongside astonishing stories of heroism and self-sacrifice. The resilience of Israeli society is unbelievably strong.

After the first days of shock, and still amidst immense pain and uncertainty, we started to do all that we can to support the school faculties and communities in our network, as they returned to remote learning last week. We are trying to help our Jewish and Arab partners in the field keep focus, providing guidance and encouragement. We are confident that our principals, teachers, Literacy Coaches, and staff will continue to go above and beyond for the students and communities of our schools.

We deeply appreciate the concern and support of all our supporters, partners, and friends who have reached out during this time. The outpouring of generosity and volunteer efforts both at home and abroad have been unparalleled. We will remain united through the difficult days ahead and continue our crucial work, more important now than ever.

Our prayers are with the families of the victims, the wounded and the captive, as we hope and strive for better days. Thank you all for being with us and for us.

In gratitude and appreciation,

Don Futterman,
Executive Director, ICEI
